The use of ASCII code in nickname

Post by leeethal » 22 Aug 2006 16:20

I've noticed that people have found different more or less bizarre signs and symbols to use in their nicknames. I tried to use a common ASCII table but it wont translate to the trackmania nickname. Any input would be appreciated.

Btw. I'm new here so tell me if I'm posting in the wrong section

Copy & paste from the character map. The simplest ways are usually the best. :D

Actually, Trackmania does not use ASCII characters but a Unicode character set. To be precise, it's UTF-8.

You could use a text editor which supports UTF-8 (many HTML editors do) for copying and pasting special Unicode characters into TM (yes, it is possible to paste text into TM with CTRL+V).

NOTE: NOT ALL CHARACTERS THAT YOU FIND WILL WORK IN TM!

HERE a link to a online Unicode Font Viewer: http://www.jhlabs.com/java/unicodeviewer.html (just copy paste the symbols and try them)

HERE "some" unicode Fontviewers: http://www.alanwood.net/unicode/utilities_fonts.html

....if you whant a unicode font in your windows (for word or wordpad) to save your "fancy nicks" download tha code2000 font here http://code2000.net/CODE2000.ZIP

...if you installed the font, download these 2 wordpad docs where most of the known working symbols are in and open them with wordpad
doc1 doc2

...have fun :lovetm

special thanks to ~ø5~Genius , who wrote about that in our forum...

Alternatively you can just use normal characters, those special characters are annoying as hell :/

I have been reading through this topic
And i have noticed a couple things, which i hope you may be able to answer for me

1. When you click on MS character map, and you find a uni code, when you type it in TM (holding alt+xxx, then release) it comes up as something else
for example, u want an É but u may get a Þ instead
why is this?
you type the uni code on screen in TM but something esle comes up, i dont understand it

2. When u see a uni code for example u+0225, how do u input that into TM when it isnt an alt unicode

2a. Also when you see a uni code as alt+22a3
how do u input that into TM when it doesnt work (and all the number alphabet unicodes i have tried havent worked

3. lastly, does anyone have the unicode for that smiley face (the one that looks like this "=]" except on its side, you will know what i mean if u have seen it) i cant find it any where

I would be very greatful if anyone could answer these

Thanks

You can also use my tool : >> TMU.KrazyColors <<
(click on "generate" to randomize the special chars)
