I wonder how they're going to prevent custom blocks with 3d block model importing from becoming a huge mess...
edit: I read it'll be out in 2010, so be patient :P

I doubt it'll be that.
Rather that you can define a start and end in a box and then twist, rotate, stretch, squeeze or whatever the road, which makes a new block then. Like always in TM games: Easy for everyone :)

Unfortunately I heard there would be importing of 3d models, unreliable source though.

So there's the Valley environment, and another one is called Arena and seems to be a bit like desert and bay. Don't know the name of the third one but apparently it "looks asian".

maybe it´s possible, but probably just the look of the old environements to one of the 3 new envis. otherwise Nadeo would have to import the physics of all the old environements

wow ...just wow ...this is v good news for the future of tm.

I know some might miss the old env. But a new game engine will definately be a better stance. Scince tmf (that i love dearly) has been riddled with some oddities (bugs) on the joining sections of track pieces, starting afresh is probably the wise way to go. Giving nadeo a clean slate to add more too at a later date.

TM's future has just been extended imo. Good going nadeo team!

Wonder how the league pro's will take the change hmm ^^

Yeah, it's probably the best option. It does depend on how the new physics and handling will be - the simple controls and physics was one of the main strengths of TM and changing that would probably alienate a lot of the long-time players. I doubt they'll turn it into a sim, but even something like making the gas/brake control analog would not work with the control schemes many of us use :P

But it's better than the other options:
- New environments for TMF. While some of us would enjoy this quite a lot, it will make the game even more complicated and bloated and harder to get into for new players, and the game engine isn't getting any newer either. It's probably harder to market too.
- Another TMF-like patch with more features that almost no one will use.
- More blocks for the current environments, They were already grasping at straws with the insane TMS eXtreme blocks, and the editor is already complicated enough with all the different block types for the environments.
- Abandoning TM for Shootmania and Questmania, with only small updates to update the game engine.
- Focusing on expanding TMN (they don't seem to like any sort of changes)

So thanks Nadeo, you probably did the right thing as far as I can see, as long as you don't mess it up
