you say that you can easily make a image and save that as a .dds file with photoshop. now i have photoshop cs2 but there isn't a possibility to save the file as .dds. also i can't open a .dds file with it.

can somebody please help?? :D

Go here and install that. You need that plugin to save anything as dds, whether in Photoshop, PaintShop Pro or anything else (as long as the app supports the Photoshop Plugin standard).

The whole part about custom signs on the boards/TV screens in your tutorial is confusing for me.

Or, better to say: It is confusing when confronted with reality.

For example, I downloaded the sign pack from TMX, and it's full of ZIP files, in which there are "image.dds" files, but not a single locator file.

In other words: An example speaks for thousand words; the exact mechanics of WHAT TO DO, where to put stuff, where to upload it, in what order (before saving the track? after saving it?) is missing.

My situation: I want my own "signature sign" (currently http://alcator.org/files/AlcatorTracksSign.dds )
to automatically download when players play a track that contains the sign. The question is: What should I do next?

For example, I managed to rename the sign to "image.dds", pak it into "AlcatorTracksSign.zip", put this zip file to "../GameData/Skins/Any/Advertisement", and it shows in the editor, but my common sense tells me the editor does not know that it should include a link to the on-line sign into the map, right? So what do I do?
