"National preliminaries and finals can be held in ‘Time Attack' mode" - it means in Poland we'll play TA in final^^

With TA being about as spectator-friendly as a nuclear detonation, excessive boredom is sure to kill every hapless spectator in a ten-mile radius.

Had a LAN a while ago with TA, it was quite boring idd, and you already know who's going to win, it eliminates almost every little piece of luck in the game, and a game needs to have a part of luck to be exciting

A German News on the WCG homepage says "only keybords allowed" ...

And the qualification Maps (only Germany i guess) are hilarious too :D
C09-Race
C15-Speed
D02-Race
D05-Race
D07-Race
D08-Speed

It is a shame that the WCG guys have no clue about this game :S

really really disappointing. they should have asked the community what it wanted beforehand, and maybe recruited some well experienced admins that have actually played the game. but maybe they will listen now, as i assume many German players are not happy with this.. =P

The http://www.wcg.com/6th/2009/games/down/ ... lation.pdf only indicate that :
Players are allowed to bring their own equipments, but driver installations and setup of personal equipments are sole responsibility of the player.
1) Acceptable personal equipments: mouse, keyboard, control pad, headset & mouse pad.
Personally i think that that rule was written that way when there were no driving game, and that rule should probably be updated this year.

I see nothing in general rules which would mean "only keyboards allowed". I am unable to understand the German news at all (and automatic conversion is nearly not understandable at all), btw i don't see why german rules would state that...

This rules and maps are only for some german qualifications ...
but it is so ************ that those guys have no clue. "Your not allowed to play with a steering wheel" ... steering wheel? in TMNF? wtf?!

ErdbeeerIce by GoogleTranslate wrote:sounds as if the TMF players can only complain ...
......
Just lollig ... this is like when you say: Oh now let's play CSS instead of 1.6 ...
This made me giggle. Is this ze German admin dude or what?
And actually, no, this is more like saying "let's play CS and SC using a trackball only!!".

Additionally, assuming I understand the responses/context in the comments correctly (Google Translate isn't exactly accurate most of the time), the rules come from Korea and there's nothing the poor German organizers can do even if they wanted to. In that case, we can only assume the other nationals will be equally loltastic in the rules department. What a joke of a tourney this will be  I bet Gallo and the other tiny handful of top keyboard players aren't half as miffed as the rest of you though ;)
