TMU and Steam (Petition of sorts)

Post by NotAgOat » 20 Jun 2007 01:05

I like this game or I wouldn't have paid $49.99 for it from an online store, however, I'm having a few problems. First off It's released on steam a week after I buy it, its 20 dollars cheaper, and you don't have the 3 activations problem. I'm not demanding a 20 dollar refund, but I think the dev's should send everyone with legit copies of TMU a key that will work on steam (& disable there old key?). This can be considered a petition of sorts, I just hope theres a few more of you guys that would rather have this on steam.

I dont see why they would want to do this, steam is an altenative way of getting games, just like the other download version.

I would like it if they did this. I just reinstalled my system (I think I have one Activation left) And I don't want to have to deal with Metaboli support. I've heard too much bad stuff about it.

They should do this as a reward to those of us who love TrackMania so much that we were willing to pay $50 to get it.

I agree. It's not as if anyone is trying to rip them off or pirate a copy. If an account is already activated then that account should be able to be transferred to Steam.
Cheers!

i really like the idea of transferring my account to steam

i just recently sent his mail to Nadeo

hi

I have a question regarding my current account for trackmania united
I currently have the downloaded version of TMU and i am on my last
activation with my current serial key

To be quite honest i cant be bothered with requesting more serial keys
and having to wait for a responce for a new key when the time comes

So what i would like to ask is

If i buy the DVD version of TMU would it still be possible to use my
account (and)details from the downloaded version?

_This i do not want to loose_

the response was

Hello,

Yes, you can recover your account if you enter your actual player key.

By buying another TMU game, you will get a 2nd TMU player key that you can give to another person.

Best Regards,

Technical Support

Focus Home Interactive

so i would find moving my account to steam better than any other option

That just means you need to buy the steam version. You get a second online key and can move your existing online key to keep your rank etc...

I have a boxed copy of TMU so it's not particularly bugging me if I have to reinstall it.

(have already done so several times)

But I think the activaztion limit is bull. They should remove it.

Except this doesn't have a stupid activation limit.

If they just give out Steam keys, you have another key and therefore 2 accounts, and you can also sell your old account or new key, costing Nadeo money. That would basically equal giving another free copy of the game to everyone.

A better alternative would be the possibility to add your Metaboli key to Steam so you can play through Steam from then on, but Steam doesn't allow this for 3rd party games and Metaboli probably wouldn't like it very much either.

I guess they could do it, long ago i purchased Half-Life when it came out, it was sold by Sierra at the time
then it was sold and updated thru steam, i couldn't get the latest version from the web, i just validated my
serial number with valve on steam, and steam downloaded the full version of half-life to my computer..

may be the same could happen with TMU ( I hope so )

Valve made steam, and they made Half life, so maybe that's why that worked back then?

Also, there was some legal fight with Sierra about the distribution thingie
