as it is posted in maniazones now, i think its only fair to post it here too

I've planned a TMX alternative a few month ago, but because TMX is "so big" i didnt realized the project. but as TMX is offline now, i've realized it now, so from now, there is an TMX alternitive (the site will not go offline, if TMX goes on again)

the page is still beta, but all needed functions are ready and working, so you can:

• up-/download tracks
• rate them (1-5 stars/points, no award-system like tmx)
• write comments
• search tracks

also planned functions are:

• replayupload
• Server API to search/add tracks from your server
• some more little functions

if you have any suggestions, post 'em

i still have to do some fixes, like errorhandling (only &e= in URL yet ^^) and browsertests (especially IE -_-) so excuse me if there are some little bugs (and report them pls )

This looks a lot better then the bcs track-exchange, but why do you need a community code? Why would I trust you with that?

Admins from Mistral World Selection (WS) can now add tracks from sharemania ... just tell them the id.

i can only say, that i have access to the nadeo-server to check the ccodes and that i dont save them, i have no benefit from saving your ccode...okay, i could post spam or something with your nick on maniazones, but then my site is marked as phishing page and i'll have no new users... so it would be a shot in my own foot... ^^

remember, your community code is not your TMU-password!

Psycho let me know there is now an API, and an overview of its functions is here (only the &gv option hasn't been added there yet).

Based on that info I wrote this new SM Info Fetcher class, allowing PHP programmers to search for tracks by UID or SM ID, and retrieve all the ShareMania data on it, including the image link. That's more of a Toolbox topic, but there you go.

I guess the intention was more a "quick share". It was just a matter of real life jumping in ones way, i guess .

ok it looks like there still are people who used sharemania?! hm.

but mistral is right, the reason why sharemania is offline is, that i dont have enough time to maintain the site anymore. but thats not the only reason.

some statistics for sm:
- 7700 tracks
- 20 website hits / day (~about 18 downloads, one or two new tracks)
- nearly no votes for tracks and (when it was available) no comments for tracks.

the intention why i started sharemania wasnt only to get a "quick share" site, it should be an alternative for tmx where people can vote for tracks in an better way then tmx (i have this award-system ) - but nobody used this features and sm was a real 1-click trackhosting service (that was used rarely). looks like i've underrated the "community"-value of TMX.

so TStarGermany is right in some part, too.

maybe, only maybe, there will be a new version with better concept for TM2, but currently i dont know if i'll have the time to realise it.

I remember using this site during some downtime that TMX had back then.

Since then I've occasionally tried to find out what it was called, because I couldn't remember the name.

I remembered the track lists with the colors visible that the authors chose, which I always really liked. I loved the simplicity of the site.

I never knew who was behind the site. So it's really cool to find out it was you psycho_dmr. Thanks for your work on it back then!
