i had that problem several times.
server on winxp pro.
I looked everywhere but didn't find the cause.
Sometimes just restarting the server pc helped, but after restarting dedi the problem came back.
Only thing that helped was making a new server (with exactly the same settings) in another folder.

If you are running the server at home on windows, i would suggest keep a look on what that port if doing. e.g Would not be surprised if windows or a installed program reserves a range of port in the 5000 area.
Try setting your server somewhere in the high ranges where no standard programs normal use ports. ex. 50003

yes, and it is very strange to have all those ports already occupied

try to see what app is using them, using Tcpview for example

well I already used a prog called current ports to show me which ports are being used and there was nothing using 5003 or any port near that, but now since a restart of my pc (winxp pro sp3) it connects to 5003 again - its the first time i've seen this, but its weird that it even happened when 5003 was definitely free.

EDIT--> I also tried making another server in another folder with exactly the same settings, but at the time that also tried listening on 5033 instead of 5003 - but its ok now anyway after a restart of the pc. Thanks for all your help everyone

I allso used a few programs of that sort.
Nothing was using the ports.
I believe it's a bug in winblows somewhere.

Hi!

I´am not really sure if I right here, but I thing this is the best place for it:

I wanna call within an plugin the method Pay(). I tried to insert an newline/linefeed/carrier return in the message. But nothing makes it.

I have tried the following with different results:

Code: Select all

\n = no effect
\r\n = no effect
\r = no effect
chr(13) = no effect
chr(13).chr(10) = no effect
\0x0D\0x0A = Call XML not a proper XML-RPC call. Call is not valid XML. XML parsing failed
\0x0D = Call XML not a proper XML-RPC call. Call is not valid XML. XML parsing failed
\0x0A = Call XML not a proper XML-RPC call. Call is not valid XML. XML parsing failed
How can I insert a linefeed in the message? Is there a way to do?

Thanks a lot!

Just a short question concerning the relay server.

Code: Select all

TrackmaniaServer /dedicated_cfg=dedicated_cfg.txt /join=the_login_of_the_game_server /joinpassword=spectator_password_of_the_game_server_if_needed
Where does the "joinpassword" value actually refer to?

Ummm, the password for the server itself? (did you actually READ the value?)

how about a possibility to read out the driven distance of a player for next dedicated server release. could be a gimmick for some funcups. :)

Funcups? A callback for stunts would create many opportunities for that too :).

This idea allready existed,
but the distance you drove and the speed you are driving with are handled in the gameclient itself.
So it isn't possible to do that.

hi, apologise if this has been asked before - the search function in tm-forums is a bit gunky sometimes.

i'd like to shift the position of the countdown timer (for time attack and in rounds timeout countdown), essentially to a similar spot where the karma widget is placed in xaseco. can anyone tell me where the positions for the timer are located?

cheers in advance-
osc

You can't move standard GUI elements, only disable some of them as per the <custom_ui> block (and the timer ain't one of them).
