hey ho!
was a long time since we met the last time.
sry for the brake.
united is out in germany now, so i can talk about it, too ^^

so i got a little question:
what is with the chache gabber for united?
i still have TMO installed on my laptop beside TMU and the chache grabber just shows the chache of TMO.
(it have took a while until i found the chache of TMU on my system ^^)


another thing:
although i have installed TMO and TMU correctly on my system, i had to select the game-directoys manually.
did you remove the automatic identification?

The cache grabber was deactivated for TM United, not to bypass ManiaLinks/ManiaCode usage. This was mainly a Carpark demand. but if you're smart, this won't be a problem :wink:

As for folder detection, It's quite strange. Can you paste the registry path where is the installation folder ? (Windows Uninstall section)

about the cache:
i know its not a problem to implement the files manually, but its a bit annoying.
maybe i make an own program to do this part of the job automatically. ;)

it registeres my at the usergroup "EasyTM", but for what?
ingame i'm not in this group.
even when i try to join this group by hand
"EasyTM" with pw "easytm"
i just get the message "unknow group"

what is this group for?

1- I don't know why folder detection isn't working. Registry paths are the same as on my computer. Everything is OK.

2- For the Cache Grabber, you need to be smarter :wink: : you can use it without using it :P

3- You are automatically added to Easy TM group, go to Easy TM option (TMU tab) and uncheck the opiton. BTW, I can't register as admin on maniazone, so I can't edit, set messages in Easy TM group any more . :cry:

btw. is the cache grabber supporting the lightmaps?
edit: no it doesnt ^^

3. yes i know that i can deactivate it, but the problem is, that tmo doesn't show me the group ingame. and when i try to register manually to that group ingame, it says, that this group is "unknown". (means: doenst exists)

4. i cannot speak french, so what is this extern tool "TM-Rx" for? ^^
looks like an minigame or something ;)

5. at the file installer and so on, you cannot specify the environment "common" for models wich are usable in all environments

2- There is a more simple way than moving files to TMO cache folder (that I never tried)

3- The Easy TM group is broken, password seems to have changed, but I can't register to administrate it. Easy TM seems not existing, but I can't create it again because it's already existing... Maniazone database is broken down for me...

4- TM Rx is a program to show all medals for TM Nations.

5- In TMU, all SKIN_3D files are installed in CarCommon despite the environment set. SKIN (Nadeo car skins) files are set by environment though.

couldnt you just made a new group with an other name? maybe "Easy TM" instead of "EasyTM"?

5. yes the skin_3d will be installed in carcommons, but only when you are downloading them or you allready gave easytm the folderstructure beside the file.
but if you drag just a skin_3d file to the fileinstaller, it happens that the environment isn't specified, yet.
when you make a right-click onto that list-entry it just shows you all environments like "Coast", "Island" and so on, but not for exmaple "TMO" or "TMU"

Okay lil bump here the default mod swapper won't work for united I can only select TMS from the game menu so just wondering what I've cocked up.

@ nazgul it would be good if you could have an option in the maniacode editor to save the .xml file on the computer beacuse my host doesn´t have ftp.

When building tracks, I'm just putting custom content in the right directories in the TM installation directory. I only worry about locators and uploading when my map is finished.

Is there a way to have the map's gbx analyzed like the Map'O'Checker, then analyze which dependencies have no locators yet, upload these dependencies, and create locators, and automatically resave the map to use the locators instead of the references to installation directories? The only hard part I guess is to identify which files are part of TMN's default installation such as the default billboard signs. But maybe instead of automating this, you could have a user select which dependencies to process, and which not to.

So e.g. I have a map 'testmap00.gbx' with these dependencies:
1. Any\Advertisement\Dynamic Ad2.dds (default install)
2. Any\Advertisement\myad00.dds (custom, no locator)
3. Any\Advertisement\myad00.dds (custom, locator)

The tool would recognize that it only needs to do something for 3. 1 is part of the default installation, and 2 is already using an url by locator. The tool would upload 3, create a locator and resave the map (hacking directly into the gbx to replace the reference by the new url of the locator, or however that works in the gbx).

I don't see how I can do that using Easy TM as it is now, or am I missing something?

Hi ive got vista 64 bit and i dont seem to be able to get TMUP to work it always worked fine with xp but for some reason says its not compatable with vista Plz help
