Thanks for this bit of awesomeness. I had a little trouble but nothing a quick google didnt fix. Theres a bit of a learning curve but I was able to get a game up that me and a friend could play on.

If anyone has any guides or tips for adding maps etc please link to me...

For people having trouble with setup, this really helped...

So after following the guide to setup the partitions. Everytime I restart the virtualbox I get "kernel panic - not syncing - attempted to kill init"

And it just stops. Any tips?

Trying to reproduce that at the moment...

got "Kernel Panic" after second reboot, too...

Hmmm... :grmblz:

First brainchild:

Size of HDD is not enough...

1. Delete created virtual Harddisk ( within VirtualBox! )
2. Create a new one -> Size: 2,0 GB ( 2000 MB )
3. Boot TMSiaB ( mounted that new created HDD! )
4. Start GParted as shown in the tutorial
5. Ext2 -> "New Size(MB):" 1500 MB! Simply klick on "Add" to finish...
6. linux-swap" -> the rest
7. shut down as shown in the tutorial
8. During shutdownsequence select "512 MB" for the safefile

Should be working...

This is excellent software! Genius!

After spending weeks trying to configure a dedicated server with xaesco i gave up and used truck instead.

I've just gave this a try and had a server up and running in five mins!

I just wish the user guides for xaesco/remote cp, etc were easier to understand, i cant for the life of me figure out to change server settings, etc (i cant even log into remotecp lol).

If those tutorials are hard to understand, then what is it you don't understand? The xaseco is very good, and remoteCP shouldn't be much worse(haven't used Rcp-tutorial much myself). Any specific thing that didn't work?

They´re simple for users who formerly worked with Configurationfiles!

For any other: It´s not! :?

My "first try" with the dedicated... hmmm... it´s a memory i´ve blocked *G*

Awesome, looks like that worked.

Guess when I get home Ill get back to adding tracks and everything again. I was able to figure that out, but Im sure Ill have some more questions pop up soon.

I had absolutely no knowledge about configuration-files. I know about moving/copying files and to read. The hard part I think most people have is with mysql and apache/php-servers.

But enough off-topic. Haven't tested this release, but from what I see it seems brilliant.

Thats why trackmania is full of elitist wallies with rubbish tracks tho!

To be fair i think i just need to spend more time studying the tutorials. I think swapping from system to system trying to get one to work has frazzled my brain!

Just an update for people interested.

I now have this distro installed on a old dell P4 machine (1.6ghz, 512mb ram, 6gig HDD). Its all installed and running from the hard drive. If you are stuck when installing it i suggest googling for puppy linux!

I run my server with the xaesco plugin. The part I got stuck with was adding my own tracks, etc. But after reading how to edit the match settings file, etc i have it all up and running nicely.

Thanks for this merlin. I'm sure you will save a lot of people alot of time and hair from being ripped out in frustration!

Good to hear.

Ive been having fun messing with this little gem. I would like to try out the xaesco plugin but I have no idea how to work that thing. Got some learning to do there. Ive got the rcp4 figured out pretty well though.

1 questions though.

Most of the time it doesnt give me admin in game, like with the restart map buttons etc. and sometimes it does, hardly ever though. Ive noticed in the server window that the [Live] tab goes away and Im guessing that may be the cause. Anyway to bring it back once it disappears? It just disappears/closes on its own.
