How can I get a model from ZModeler or 3ds Max into TMN?

I have a model in 3ds format, but I have no idea how to get it in game and cant find any tutorials on the subject.

I'm not really bothered about textures because i can paint it in game. then edit the file created by that with photoshop.

Thanks i've followed the instructions there and still only see the stadium car in game.


I downloaded the files from here:

Just to try and get ANY model in game, I used the 3d_template.3ds provided (with no modifications) and converted it into .gbx using the launcher then renamed it to MainBody.Solid.gbx and put that in my skin zip.

After trying to choose the car in game I just see the stadium car and get "Tree ShadowProj: Bad Material Char (S)"


What am I doing wrong? At least I'm getting an error with this model.


Once I get it working i'll just overwrite the pieces with the car i want to use.

Ok i got the tutorial model into game but now i cant get my car in game.

I get a "Bounding box" error and a lot of numbers :(

I tried setting the scale really low on the .3ds export but it doesn't help (and the numbers don't seem to change)

if u used max:
-import into your model maxbox.3ds from one of the tuto "pages" (also u can import island car.3ds for better comparsion)
-when import dont check "Convert units"
-adopt your model to it
-delete all (only not your model)
-select all and use resetXform (in utilities)
-export

Ok i got it in game with lots of trial and error in ZModeler2 (dont have max on this pc :( ) but I have a problem... when racing other people it makes the track around it all black!!

Why does it make the track around it all black? :-\



Also, why does TM flip the model? The aerofoil is the wrong way around in game (it's fine in the model).

the faces of these parts are fliped...
for game every face is visible only from one side, from the other side is "see thru" so flip these faces..

Probably problem with the lowpoly model (mainbody.gbx), your friends see your cars lowpoly model for a lower usage of vga card.

lwo always having lots of normalizing problems, if you copy the faces of the wheel, normalize them, and attach them again to the body, this problem won't occur.
