Stuck with low-res textures (hud/track)
Hi
I've just gone to play TMUF after not playing for a month or so, when I loaded the game up as normal and entered a server I noticed that all the track/water and hud textures were really low res.
I exited the game to check the settings incase they had reset for some reason, but alas no, everything was set to max, high textures all the extras turned on etc.
I saved the config again and loaded up, exactly the same problem.
Thinking the game files may have been corrupted in the time i've not been playing I uninstalled the game, deleted the profile folder from my documents, and reinstalled the game afresh, entered my key, configured the game again, loaded it up and .... exactly the same low res texture problem.
Thinking it might be the latest nvidia beta drivers causing a problem I removed them, driver swept my system and installed the latest WHQL drivers, alas the exact same problem exists.
All my other games seem to be working fine, so I can only assume it is some incompatibility with TM, or a bug within the game itself.
My System spec is as follows:
OS: Vista x64 Ultimate /SP2
CPU: Q6600
MEM: 8GB PC8500
GFX: GTX260-216 55nm 896MB
SND: SB X-Fi Gamer
TFT: 22" 1680x1050
Any help would be greatly appreciated, i'd really like to be able to get back into the game!!!

Re: Stuck with low-res textures (hud/track)
The same problem here with the latest Nvidia WHQL Drivers V 185.85
But! The game have been working very well with these drivers!
I don't understand that because FarCry2 works well..
Edit: Screenshots added:

I'm having the same exact problem. Maybe it will be fixed with the next driver?

Re: Stuck with low-res textures (hud/track)
I discussed this problem with a mate.
He thinks that the problem could be a DirectX 9 Update coming with one of the last WindowsUpdate.
That could be the reason for my FarCry2 Screenshot with no texture Problem because this Screenshot was made in DirectX10 Mode.
My "World in Conflict" works fine too, but I play that game in DX10-Mode too...
A small difference that I haven't observed and maybe the problem.
I'll test a reinstall of DirectX9 this evening after work and report here if that was the reason.

Re: Stuck with low-res textures (hud/track)
Thank you for your advice Generator.
I tried that driver too but it had no effect
My System:
OS: Vista x64 Ultimate /SP1
CPU: E6850 (Dualcore)
MEM: 8GB PC8000 G.Skill
GFX: 2x GF8800GTX (G80) 768MB (SLI)
SND: Onboard
TFT: 24" 1920x1200
My System worked well with the WHQL Driver 185.85 but perhaps, the textures "crashed" to low level.
So I don't think it's the nvidia driver...

Re: Stuck with low-res textures (hud/track)
Now i think it's the nVidia driver but a longer existing problem.
Today I uninstalled the latest Nvidia WHQL Drivers V 185.85 and installed an much older Nvidia WHQL Drivers V 180.48
Now my Texture Problem is solved:

Re: Stuck with low-res textures (hud/track)
Thanks for the replies all. Yep it looks like its a problem with the latest drivers.
As mentioned if you use the older 182.50's then all is fine.
However the 185.XX or 186.XX's give only low res textures when using greater then 4GB memory.
There are a set of 190.15 beta drivers floating about so i'm going to give those a go, i'll report back with my findings.
If anyone else wants to give them a go you can find them here:
Win7 / Vista - 64-bit
Win7 / Vista - 32-bit
XP 32bit

Re: Stuck with low-res textures (hud/track)
Just tried the new 186.18 WHQL that were released today, same problem

Re: Stuck with low-res textures (hud/track)
6gig ram work fine too only with 8gig i've got this problem
Re: Stuck with low-res textures (hud/track)
did you guys go into the advanced options on the launcher and change the shader and texture quality? both of those will significantly affect the overall quality and if they somehow get set low, that will cause this.
Re: Stuck with low-res textures (hud/track)
no nothing changed, i already said that when i took 2gig ram out to have 6gig and start the game all looks nice
Re: Stuck with low-res textures (hud/track)
Hello,
We've talked with NVidia about this issue, they looked into it, and according to them the bug is
an OperatingSystem bug that was exposed by a change they made in the driver.
They temporarily rolled back this driver change for the next driver update until MS fixes the issue in the OS.
You can find yourself this is a OS+Driver issue (and check if it's fixed or not) by launching DirectX SDK's sample "VideoMemory".
Here is output from the DX SDK video memory sample with 3GB of memory (of course it does not show the issue):
Here is output with 8GB of system memory (showing the issue):
Thanks for the clear informations you gave on the issue.
